UniConnect is designed exclusively for university students and adult users aged 18 years and older. To maintain this commitment:

University Email Verification Users must verify their account using an active university student email address. This ensures that accounts belong to legitimate, enrolled students within accredited institutions.

Identity Verification via AWS Facial Recognition All users undergo a 3D liveness check during onboarding. This process confirms that the account holder is a real person and matches their submitted credentials, preventing unauthorized access by minors.

Phone Number Verification Firebase Authentication requires a valid mobile phone number with SMS verification, adding an additional layer of account legitimacy and preventing account creation by unverified individuals.

3. Content Moderation & Community Standards

UniConnect maintains strict content moderation policies to ensure all user-generated content adheres to our community standards:

Prohibited Content: We do not permit explicit sexual content, graphic violence, hate speech, harassment, bullying, or any content that exploits or endangers individuals, including minors.
Automated Filtering: Our platform employs machine learning-based content filtering to detect and flag potentially harmful or inappropriate materials before they appear in user feeds.
Human Moderation: Our dedicated moderation team reviews flagged content 24/7 to ensure swift removal of any violations and consistent enforcement of community guidelines.
Real-Time Detection: Our systems continuously monitor user profiles, uploaded images, and messaging interactions for signs of exploitation, grooming, or abuse.

4. Protecting Minors from Predatory Behavior

Zero Tolerance for Child Exploitation: UniConnect has zero tolerance for any form of child exploitation, grooming, or abuse. Any account identified as engaging in predatory behavior toward minors will be immediately suspended and reported to relevant law enforcement and child protection authorities.

Grooming Prevention Measures

We employ multiple safeguards to prevent grooming and predatory contact:

Age-Gating Enforcement: Our identity verification system prevents individuals from falsely representing their age. The 3D facial recognition check ensures the person on the account matches their credentials.
Suspicious Pattern Detection: Our AI systems flag accounts exhibiting patterns consistent with grooming behavior, such as adults seeking private communication with users claiming to be much younger.
Messaging Safety Protocols: Private messages are fully encrypted and monitored for language patterns indicative of exploitation or inappropriate contact with minors.
Rapid Response Team: Our child safety team investigates all reports of suspected grooming within 24 hours and escalates serious cases to law enforcement.

5. Reporting & Response Mechanisms

User Reporting Tools

UniConnect provides multiple pathways for reporting concerns:

In-App Reporting Users can report any profile, image, or message that violates our safety policies directly through the application. Reports are immediately routed to our moderation team for investigation.

Blocking Functionality Users maintain absolute control to instantly block any account. Blocked users cannot access your profile, send messages, or interact with your content in any way.

Direct Email Escalation Serious safety concerns can be reported directly to our dedicated safety team via email for immediate investigation and escalation if necessary.

Enforcement & Investigation

All reported concerns are investigated by our trained safety specialists within 24 hours.
Verified violations result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination.
Serious offenses (exploitation, abuse, illegal activity) are escalated to appropriate law enforcement authorities and child protection services.
We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations and child safety organizations.

        Transparency Reports: UniConnect is committed to transparency regarding child safety. We regularly publish safety transparency reports detailing the number of reports received, investigations conducted, and enforcement actions taken.

Should a user under 18 gain access to UniConnect through unauthorized means, we apply heightened data protection standards:
